Due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Germany, new measures were decided at the federal-state meeting on December 02, 2021. These restrictions mainly affect non-vaccinated persons, but are also relevant for those vaccinated and recovered.
From now on, masks will be mandatory in all school classes. Furthermore, a nationwide ban on firecrackers will also apply this year on New Year's Eve, as pyrotechnic-related injuries frequently occur on New Year's Eve, which could place an additional burden on hospitals, which are already very busy with Corona. Thus, the 2G rule is also to be extended to the retail sector, excluding stores for daily needs, and cinemas, restaurants and similar establishments can in future only be entered with proof of 2G and, if necessary, a current Corona test. Gatherings in public and private spaces attended by unvaccinated and unrecovered persons are limited to the person's own household and no more than two persons from another household. Children up to the age of 14 are exempt.
In addition, vaccination status is to expire if a booster is not given in a timely manner. "The federal and state governments, taking into account the vaccination campaign and available vaccines, will agree by the end of the year on when and how to apply a corresponding regulation." A mandatory vaccination starting next year could also still be decided, and this would then be decided in the Bundesrat.
